Current Research Projects

Before we can make a product and release it for use, we have to do our homework in several areas. These areas include the technical details of the product, the feasibility, the effectiveness, and the practicality of the final product. If you would like to suggest an area for us to research, please let us know .

Here are the areas we are currently researching. We cannot promise that we will produce a final product for each area. Check back for updated details.

Biometric Authentication

The goal of this project is to provide a biometric means of authentication for our software. By replacing passwords which are often simple an insecure with authentication based on fingerprints, we can greatly increase the security of the data stored by our products.

Classification of Chat Logs

We are researching the possibility of creating an application that will be able to determine the probability that a chat log contains messages from an online predator. Our solution does not simply search for keywords and phrases that are commonly used by online predators, instead, we are researching the possibility of employing statistical techniques that will "score" each chat log. The score will represent the probability that the chat log contains messages from an online predator. The primary goal of this project is to help reduce the number the chat logs that must be manually analyzed for content in an investigation.

File Search Software Utilizing NIST's National Software Reference Library (NSRL)

This project aims to create a file search utility that separate files in drives or folders into two categories - those files included in the NSRL and those that are not. The outcome is that the number of files that need to be manually analyzed can be reduced. The database employed will be made accessible to other products, such as Forensic P2P.
