Chat Watch 4 is an instant message monitoring and logging software for today's most popular instant messengers. With Chat Watch you can log all chats on AOL Instant Messenger, MSN Messenger, ICQ, and Yahoo! Messenger.

Chat Watch 4 is fairly old now and it does not log the most recent versions of the instant messengers. Also, some features of Chat Watch 4 are known to have compatibility issues on Windows Vista. We added Chat Watch 4 to our available products after learning at the 2008 Project Safe Childhood National Conference that Chat Watch 4 was still widely used. Chat Watch 4 was not designed specifically for law enforcement use, and as a result, many of the features described on this page will not be helpful for such users.

Parental Control Features

• The Acronym Translator quickly replaces obscure acronyms with their meanings (replace AFK with Away from keyboard).
• The Content Monitor quickly highlights chats that may contain offensive words. Parents can add custom words to the content monitor watch list.
• Parents can set scheduling options that determine when chatting is allowed and when it is not allowed.

Reporting of Log Conversations

• View the chat logs in real-time using Chat Watch.NET.
• Chat Watch can automatically send the chat logs to your e-mail address for remote viewing.
• The chat logs can be automatically copied across a network to a shared directory.
